From the Cutting Room Floor

It’s always challenging to put any publications to bed! During the research and designing stages, it is a challenge to choose what to use and what to put aside. Last minute opportunities often arrive at an alarming rate. During the last weeks of signing off the press run on Classic Woodys, the opportunity arose to upgrade the quality and uniqueness on about five images. Here is just one of the wagon models that hit the cutting room floor in the Foreign Woodys chapter. It’s an East German Goliath brand. This weird little five-passenger wagon was made for only a short time in the early fifties. It was sold as an invaluable van to work many jobs. In effect, it looked more like something from a TinTin adventure book; just how many took to the roads of East or West Germany is unrecorded.
