Woodies on the Wharf 2013 – Santa Cruz, California
This popular annual event is about as cool as any car show could get! Held on the public wharf that stretches a 1/4 mile or more out into the bay in front of Santa Cruz, it has met with wide local acceptance and support from the local business community. Santa Cruz Woodies Club puts on event and Bob Barbor, the guy who works between the club and the city, has helped drive and develop the event for the past 10 years or more without turning it into a huge commercial enterprise. This had helped retain its nice club and family feel. Like all of us, I had my favorites. Below is the wildest teardrop trailer I have ever seen, all-wood with portholes windows, Gimelli’s restored ’56 Cadillac station wagon by S&S-Hess & Eisenhardt, the ’46 Chevy station wagon shown by Charlie Chisholm , Justin Aldi’s wonderful ’52 International, Randy Perez’s ’36 La Bamaba Dodge and George Young’s slick red ’46 Ford hot rod.
